Why does he still have a job? London Whale scandal, Libor Scandal, 16 Billion dollar fine, what does it take to get fired at JP Morgan?

Oh hell yeah. McCaullife wasn't my first choice, but he's our candidate.

It would be nice to get Virginia on board with the ACA Medicaid expansion.

I've always found him a little too corporate Dem for me, but seriously, he's not the boogeyman people on the right -- and left -- say he is.

I've read the Op-Ed twice. It is absolutely scathing. The worst they could come up with regarding MCCaulliffe was this:
McAuliffe styles himself a businessman and entrepreneur. He inhabits the crossroads where the public and private sectors intersect and sometimes collide. His experience with GreenTech does not generate confidence. He located the plant in Mississippi, which is not known for its social enlightenment. The company has not lived up to expectations. If it eventually does, no credit will accrue to McAuliffe, for he has, he says, stepped away from it. He is not the reincarnation of Henry Ford. His ignorance of state government is laughable and makes Rick Perry, the notorious governor of Texas, look like a Founding Father.
If that aint a smack down of the teabaggers for you, look at this regarding the third candidate:
Moreover, while The Times-Dispatch finds considerable merit in the libertarian ethos, the libertarian ideology is a luxury afforded by a political, economic and social climate that, despite the nation’s commitment to liberty, was not created by libertarian doctrine. We fear Sarvis would be in over his head.

Morning, comrades.

I apologize in advance for the national coffee shortage that New England will be causing during the course of this week.

It would be time for my sometime-rant about late starts, 9,000-hour ballgames, the DH, and no daytime games, but I think most of you are familiar with my positions on this by now.

Play Ball!!

This is the kinda crap that just pisses me off.
A senior official from former President George W. Bush's administration is quoted in “Days of Fire: Bush and Cheney in the White House” saying American troops went into Iraq because the U.S. was looking for a fight.

"The only reason we went into Iraq, I tell people now, is we were looking for somebody’s ass to kick. Afghanistan was too easy," the anonymous official said, according to Politico.

Mussolini did that. During the late stages of the Fall of France, he invaded the south coast and tried to take Nice. The French wound up kicking Mussolini's ass, and it was a huge embarassment. He tried again in Greece, which led to Hitler saving his bacon...again. Italy's overseas failures contributed greatly to the fall of Fascism in '43.

EVERY STATE that is having ACA exchange problems are the states that didn't come into the fold for federal medicaid expansion.

I'm just saying that this probably wouldn't have been an issue if the SCOTUS had not said that states could opt out of the expansion. (you know, that was last summer -- AFTER a lot of the coding was done.)

Indeed it was - they were a "Varsity" group, not regular Boy Scouts, according to my sources. (Varsity being a high-adventure, sports-oriented branch of the program for older scouts.)

As you can imagine, this has been burning up Scouting intertubes...we just start to extricate ourselves from the membership fiasco, and these asshats give the program another black eye.

I don't know if it's been widely reported in the mainstream, but this group is chartered by the LDS, which has slightly different rules from the rest of us.

Yet more fuel for my longstanding prejudice and hatred of Mormons and what they have done to this program.

In unrelated news to anything, I may finally wear my uniform back to a scout meeting tonight.

The senior patrol leader has threatened to "skunk" me if I don't. He knows what I do for District, and I casually mentioned that I might wear my uniform to a meeting sometime.

(The "skunk" is an old beanie babie - it's given to a scout at the end of the meeting if he's out of uniform, or forgot something, or otherwise did something silly. Where the scout must keep it for the week, remediate the behaviour, and then pass it on to another scout at the next meeting.)
