In a week of Independence Day fireworks, there occasionally is a dud. For the Clinton-haters, that was the completely unsurprising conclusion of the FBI investigation into EmailGate, the fabricated outrage over her use of a private email server while serving as Secretary of State. Never mind that previous Secretaries of State did exactly the same thing, with a collective outrage of none, this is Hillary Clinton, and because of who she is, she has to do everything the men do, but backwards and in high heels (or at least sensible flats).

You can read the entire FBI statement here, but the gist is that there is no reason to indict her, but "she should have known better". While thinking about that, think about the previous paragraph where it was clearly noted that she followed the tradition that preceded her. The only reason Colin Powell isn't getting the same scrutiny is that 1) He is not running for president, and 2) let's be honest - he is a Republican. Try reviewing these points, and ask yourself if the same would have been said about Colin Powell.

The reality is:
Clinton, like her two most recent predecessors Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice, maintained at least two email accounts: one specifically set up to receive classified information and the other for other communications. Clinton’s non-classified email was hosted on a private server (as opposed to Powell’s non-classified email address, which was an AOL account), while the classified email could only be accessed if Clinton complied with a byzantine array of security rules.

Clinton says that the emails she received at her non-classified address “were not marked classified,” although she acknowledges that “there are disagreements among agencies on what should have been perhaps classified retroactively.” Government officials also confirm that “none of the emails the State Department redacted, or any other emails made public, contained classification markings at the time they were sent.” Although the FBI determined that 110 emails did contain classified information.

Naturally, the conclusion by the FBI has a few people's rankles up. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) says that Secretary Clinton should not be above the law. Apparently, the erstwhile eye doc knows more about the law than the FBI. Presidential contender T-Rump is having a meltdown about the whole thing, claiming the "system is rigged" (said the guy who's used bankruptcy court to avoid paying his debtors, and skipped the Viet Nam war on deferments).

That all is to be expected. You know who else is having meltdowns? Sanders supporters. Thanks "progressives".

Where was the outrage when the Bush Administration managed to "lose" several million emails? Oh yeah - Bush was a Republican male, and Clinton a female Democrat. I think that completely sums up the reason for the vastly different reactions from the press, the pundits, and the public.

There are some (mostly Sanders and Trump supporters) who think that this will hurt her chances at being elected, even though she has not been charged with anything. Keep in mind that Bill Clinton was in the middle of the Whitewater investigation when he was re-elected in 1996. This will be pretty far in the rear-view mirror by the time November rolls around.

Not to worry, though - the Republicans will drum up some other "scandal" in an unsuccessful attempt to tarnish her image. It's all they've got at this point.

That matters not. Because Clinton needs to be embarrassed at all costs! Because that worked so well for Benghazi. Wait...bad example. Um...She's clearly corrupt because reasons.

Morning

So is it just me or did Randi and Bill Press seem unhappy that Hillary wasn't brought up on charges?

Good morning, bloggers!!!

It does take a high standard for an investigator to recommend prosecution. In the issue of Hillary Clinton and the e-mail server, the issue of intent is key. As there was not evidence of malicious intent, charges were not recommended.

Comey was also the LEAD INVESTIGATOR for Ken Starr.

good morning.

In hindsight, I have to say I was not really appreciative of Comey *scolding* Clinton.

Perhaps if the GOP led Congress would approve money to invested in Government IT infrastructure, none of this had to happen.

Raine, the GOP might have to spend less money on kickbacks and tax cuts for the donor class!! That might mean some poor billionaire has to have a silver plated toilet as opposed to a gold plated toilet.

If Donald Trump wishes to be king, perhaps he already has a golden throne.

Meanwhile, Team Trump is still desperately seeking excuses (no relation to the film Desperately Seeking Susan) to explain away using an image from an anti-Semitic site that uses a red Star of David to portray Hillary Clinton as corrupt.

The more this shitshow goes on, the more I'm convinced there will be no Presidential debates this cycle. They would accomplish nothing.

I don't know if the wheels of British justice can turn fast enough (or if there is enough will) to get Cheney's lapdog Tony Blair served up for their form of impeachment in time for this election.

Sarah Palin may be back by default.
