Sounds like Blog Spirit
Author: Raine    Date: 11/12/2007 13:17:57

Good morning everyone! Welcome to Monday.

As some of you know, we added a few features to the blog over the weekend... Audi-Cons! Why? - because sometimes someone really did say it better than you ever could have. Check them out!

Yesterday was Veteran's day. I thanked my dad for his service. My dad was spending the day enjoying the warm Florida sunshine, and planned on going fishing. He earned it; my dad is a Vet - he served.

The president decided to spend the Day in Crawford. He gave a speech. He has spent 4 of the past 6 veteran's days in Washington... I am trying to figure out which one he didn't spend there... Personally, I find it a little shameful that during this time, a time when we learned that 2007 was the deadliest year for our soldiers in Afghanistan, that he did not attend the Services at Arlington. Instead, he marked his Fifth Veterans day since he invaded Iraq in Texas. He attended a small ceremony, and yes, he invoked 911™, saying
"America is blessed to have such brave defenders. They are tomorrow's veterans and they are bringing pride to our country. Their service is noble and it is necessary," he said. "The enemies who attacked us six years ago want to strike our country again, and next time they hope to kill Americans on a scale that will make 9/11 pale by comparison."
Wow, way to fearmonger.

The president did not serve. The president was AWOL, when he could have been serving the same way those vets did that he honored yesterday in Texas. HE did not serve. HE did not put his life on the line.

Instead of Bush, Cheney was at Arlington yesterday. I listened to him give his speech, and I wondered, wow, how many deferrments did this man get to NOT serve in Vietnam or ANY other conflict? OH yeah... FIVE.

He got 5 draft deferrments. He did not serve, He did not put his life on the line.
This weekend Max Cleland Spoke in Atlanta...
When I was in Vietnam, I never saw Dick Cheney there. I never saw George Bush there. I never saw Donald Rumsfield there. I never saw Paul Wolfowitz there," Cleland said, citing the vice president, president, former secretary of defense and former deputy defense secretary, respectively.

All four men were of age during the Vietnam War but did not go, Cleland said.

Calling them "people who have never been to war [who are] eager to send people to war," Cleland said, "It's criminal what's happening to our young men and women."

Specifically, the ex-senator said he was upset with the number of troops sent to Iraq, lack of a plan to bring them home, and shoddy outpatient treatment, poor living conditions and bureaucratic delays at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Cleland, he is one of the vets to be honored. HE DID SERVE. HE DID PUT HIS LIFE ON THE LINE. And, in 2004, he was swifboated by the Republican party that Bush and Cheney are proudly a part of. Ironic, no?

*sigh*.... I still hold out hope that we will one day hear this...

regarding Bush and Cheney and their entire cabal.

The markets are looking like we might be in for another bumpy ride this week, Pakistan is still a mess, I will be watching a second oil tanker misshap in Russia...the news keeps coming!

So, the Coffee is on, the sounds are here. Come inside and have a little fun on this Monday Morning.
:peace: and
Raine

Good morning again... this just came across my desktop:

Just off the Presses...

Blackwater must be relieved that this time it wasn't them...

An Iraqi taxi driver was shot and killed on Saturday by a guard with DynCorp International, a private security company hired to protect American diplomats here, when a DynCorp convoy rolled past a knot of traffic on an exit ramp in Baghdad, the Iraqi Interior Ministry said Sunday.

File under 'compare and contrast':

The Queen leads the annual service at the Cenotaph in London

The Queen and thousands of war veterans gathered at the Cenotaph in London yesterday at the end of the bloodiest year for the Armed Forces since the Falklands War.

Since November 11 last year, 92 servicemen and women have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, the highest death toll since 253 died in the South Atlantic a quarter of a century ago.

Prince William, an officer in the Blues and Royals, laid a wreath for the first time after joining senior members of his family for the Remembrance ceremony in Whitehall. The event will have had particular poignancy for the Prince. Last month Major Alexis Roberts of the Royal Gurkha Rifles, his Sandhurst instructor, was killed in action in southern Afghanistan. The future King was also “deeply saddened” when 24-year-old Second Lieutenant Joanna Yorke Dyer, said to be a friend, was killed by a roadside bomb near Basra, southern Iraq.

Crowds looked on from the pavements as senior politicians, led for the first time by Gordon Brown, followed the Royal Family in laying wreaths. Tony Blair was also present, but this year stood behind the party leaders with fellow former Prime Ministers Baroness Thatcher and John Major. More than 8,000 veterans, many of them old and frail, were then applauded as they marched past the Cenotaph in winter sunshine. To mark the 25th anniversary of that Falklands conflict, veterans of the campaign led the parade.

Millions took part in other Remembrance Day events around the country. Three thousand people, including hundreds of veterans, attended the first Remembrance Sunday service to be held at the new Armed Forces Memorial in Alrewas, Staffordshire.

Yes, Tri, I was looking forward to a slightly "bigger" announcement as well. That Raine........ she gets one's hopes up with her delicious little hints.

I spent Vetrans day with Dennis (can I brag some more?). Got his new book and will start to read it today. Also, must go to BestBuy (puke) to buy a switch and get my network up and running here at home. After that, leave blowing! Yikes.

No. Someone REALLY needs to tell this man that the economy is NOT doing great when people have to choose between these things. It is unconstitutional. Life Liberty and the pursuit of happiness are our RIGHTS as americans and nutrition, warmth and mobility are indeed constitutional rights.

And yeah, I agree with Liv, it probably is her loss, but in the end, it is your gain. there is nothing worse than trying to liv up to someone else's expectations. Perfectly peculiar predicaments I tell ya!
These things don't happen in my neck of the woods. Our big accidents are when trucks are on the State Parkways and hit the overpasses because they're vehicles are too big for the clearance. That's why trucks aren't allowed on the State Parkway system.
Lots of farm land still around here that's why all the livestock. The chicken thing was still tragically funny. Especally to here our driver manger tell the story of how they chickens planned the escape and rocked the truck until it turned over.
That sounds strangely similar to the Movie, Chicken run!!! :P

Her issue is not the show itself. It's the time I spend socially with "the theater people" as she calls them. She takes it as a personal affront that after rehearsal on Fridays I would got out with the cast for a drink, etc.

I have explained SEVERAL times, that is all part of being in an ensemble cast...it's better if you all get along and it's much better if you actually like and get to know one another. That does not happen through the rehearsal process necessarily. Rehearsals are work; they don't allow a lot of downtime to say "So, when did you start acting? How many kids do you have? Do you like ad libbing or does it annoy you when you're fellow actors do things that are different than 'last night?'" etc etc etc. . . .

As one who used to play in a band, I understand this phenomenon completely. Either they are supportive and give you the space to do your thing, or they see it as "competition" where it's either them or your art. A long time ago, I made the wrong choice, and it set the tone of the relationship from that point forward.

How would you feel about having her join you and the cast after rehearsal? Would that be a reasonable (and workable) comprimise?

"I don't want to see you with the theater people. I'd like some time with just you."

Trust me, I get that a non-performer doesn't get it. And, this particular show was grueling in terms of the schedule. I was at the theater 20 hours a week. . . that's in addition to a 40 hour work week. Any time that I wasn't at the theater, I was with her! Literally....oh,except those times where we'd grab a beer at 10:30 after rehearsal.

But, Saturdays and Sundays were hers....no question.

Let's see....divde...carry the nine....

Yes, here we go. That left zero time that truly belonged to me.

He does it EVERY time I get out of the shower. Sits on the toilet and cries until I pick him up. And, sometimes he does it randomly. He will sit at my feet and cry and if I put my arms out like I am going to pick him up, he stands on his hind legs. Then he lets me carry him around like a kid.

Fuse this weekend was running a marathon of "Daddy's Spoiled Little Girl" with all these rich brats who Daddy buys everything for. One girl for her 22nd birthday got a new sportscar plus dad threw a $40,000 birthday party. I suddenly was going all Che Guevara thinking "When the Revolution comes, you will not be spared".

And under Bush, the middle class has gotten the shit kicked out of them. I definitely have felt the experience of living under a Bush economy between first getting smaller raises that were not keeping up with my expenses and then I got laid off, was out of work for 6 months and now work for less money forcing me to live paycheck to paycheck and it feels like the only way out is if I hit the jackpot. But you can't live on the odds of winning the lottery or hitting the jackpot at the casino.

According to the Arketi Group 2007 Web Watch Survey, 84 percent of journalists say they would or already have used blogs as a primary or secondary source for articles. 100% of those (journalists) surveyed say they rely on the Internet to help get their job done. One-quarter of journalists say blogs make their job easier, while 18 percent say instant messaging makes their job easier.
