Unless you've been under a rock for the past several days, you already know that TFG got indicted yet again in GA (so much winning!). On Monday we learned that the Fulton County Grand Jury was about to finish up, so we expected announcements on Tuesday.

What happened instead is that the indictment was released Monday night. An hour before that, we learned that 10 indictments were headed to the judge overseeing the proceedings for his review and signature. At that time, the assumption was made that it was 10 indictments against TFG.

It appears that 9 of the 10 were for other cases, because the 1 indictment that was released was a doozy.

The indictment contains 41 charges (count 'em - 41!) against TFG and/or his inner circle. The "unindicted co-conspirators" in the federal Jan 06 case are now indicted, with state charges that cannot be pardoned away by the president. Yes, they can be pardoned by the state of GA (thanks to a new law passed by the Republican state legislature), but it requires a panel to be convened and the panel to vote on it. Even more importantly, the indictment contains RICO charges, which carry a minumum 5 years in jail - before a pardon can happen.

The now-indicted co-conspirators include Mike Meadows, John Eastman (slowly, I turned), Rudy Ghouliani, Jeffrey Clark, Ken Cheese-bro, Sidney Powell, and Jenna Ellis, among others. Not all of them are included in all of the charges, but they are all in serious legal jeopardy. Several may try to plea deal in exchange for selling TFG down the river.

Mark Meadows is trying to get his charges moved to federal court. Federal convictions/charges can be pardoned, although - me not being a legal scholar - I don't know whether that would work in this case. If that's his angle, then it's certainly a desperate effort indicating he knows he's fucked.

Of the 41 charges, TFG is named in 11 of them (including the aforementioned RICO charge: #1). That makes close to 100 felony counts across 4 indictments he is on the hook for to defend himself against. That is insane. In the GA case, only 2 of the 161 "acts" of which he and his co-conspirators are accused of need to be confirmed in court for the RICO charge to be valid - just 2. This is all VERY bad news for all of the indicted, but especially TFG, considering that he is the head of this crime family.

One has to wonder what the rest of the world thinks when the leading republican candidate for president in 2024 is facing serious jail time. I know what I think...

I believe I heard yesterday that even if he gets this moved to Federal court (don't think he will), Georgia laws, and penalties apply.

Including no federal pardon...

I have to find where I read or heard that, so TIFIW for now.

From the AJC:
Many legal experts predict Trump’s lawyers will try to move the case to the U.S. District Court just a few blocks away. To do so, they would use a little-known statute that allows U.S. officials charged with crimes to transfer a state criminal case to federal court where it would be presided over by a U.S. District judge. If the case does get moved and Trump were to be found guilty, he would be convicted of state, not federal crimes.

Donald Trump, allies will be booked on charges at Georgia jail, not court, sheriff says

Labat's office said in a statement bookings will happen at the Rice Street jail, although plans could change without notice. The jail is open 24 hours per day and the defendants could show up at any time, Labat said.

“At this point, based on guidance received from the district attorney’s office and presiding judge, it is expected that all 19 defendants named in the indictment will be booked at the Rice Street Jail,” the statement said.

But the sheriff added that arrangements are subject to change. "Due to the unprecedented nature of this case, some circumstances may change with little or no warning," the statement said.

A pity they haven't found any crimes against this statute yet.

United States Constitution, Article III, Section 3, “Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort.
