I don't like that President Biden stepped down from his candidacy. I hate that it all was public. I hate the media piling on. That said, we marinate in politics and all that goes with it.

It is what it is. Kamal Harris will be our candidate. Not Gretchen Whitmer, Not Gavin Newsome. it is time to stop playing political cosplay with our democracy. She is a great candidate. She was my first pick when she was running. I am nervous, I'm not going to lie, but I am all in.

My sister, a registered independent, was relieved. She wasn't sure if she could vote for Biden again and was thinking about sitting out this election, She is all in for Harris. Same with many of my less political friends, so anecdotally this may not be the thing that dooms us. They are all in for Harris.

Joe Biden is the best President of my life. He put the country before himself, which says a lot about a person. I wish the country wasn't so stupid but, again, it is what it is.

Thank you Joseph Robinette Biden for your loving service to this nation. Your sacrifices, many you never chose, were not in vain. No malarky, I'm serious. Now, let's get Kamala elected!

Nikki Haley's PAC is supporting VP Kamala Harris.

A coalition of former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley voters pledged their support for Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential bid on Sunday, hours after President Joe Biden announced that he was dropping out of the race.

...

The political action committee (PAC), previously known as Haley Voters for Biden, which now features Harris' name, seeks to amplify the voices of former Haley voters in support of Harris' White House bid.

Craig Snyder, the group's director, told Newsweek in an email on Sunday afternoon that the organization believes Harris "is best suited to defeat Donald Trump in November."

So there's that.

Good morning, bloggers!!!

I hated the piling on President Biden. However, he has shown that he puts country over party and his own self-interest. He did something that TFG could never do - step down and endorse another qualified individual.

My sister does worry about the racism and sexism that Harris will face. Let me be blunt: I expect things to get very ugly. However, I think that Harris is strong enough to take whatever the GOP throws at her. I am in for Harris and plan to support her.

TFG must be furious as the narrative no longer focuses on him. I look forward to a vice presidential candidate who will mop, Swiffer, and vacuum the floor with JD Vance (creature of Silicon Valley libertarian billionaires.)

There is some talk that donations within 24 hours of President Biden's announcement may reach $100 MILLION. So far, the fundraising is from small donors.

Yes, I think that Harris can really use these checks against Trump and any old statements from him.

Someone needs to smack Michael Moore hard.

Michael Moore wants Joe Biden to resign so Kamala will go into the race as POTUS.

Except that will put Mike Johnson as first in line for the presidency if anything happens to Kamala. Also, totally unlikely she could get a new VP confirmed.

And how on earth would she have the time to run the country while being thrust into the big chair at the same time?

Moore has been on the front lines pushing for Biden to leave the race for months. He's crowing about yesterday as though it was all his doing.
I've been a fan for a long time, but he needs to STFU and just support Kamala.

once again, trying to be relevant. also, doesn't understand how this works.

You cannot force a candidate to run for office if they don't want to,

I double posted, but check out the next post. I am willing to predict that Harris will see a record this week by next Sunday.

As the Twenty-fifth Amendment states, the Senate and House would need to confirm the selection. That is not happening with this Congress.

In other news, the Associate Press reports that Vice President Harris broke all previous fundraisers by raising over $81 million in the 24 hours since President Biden announced that he will not run for another term. (Please read down to the final paragraph that I am excerpting as $150 million more has been pledged.)

In total, Harris’ team raised more than $81 million in the 24-hour period since Biden’s announcement, campaign spokesperson Kevin Munoz said Monday.

The massive haul, which includes money raised across the campaign, the Democratic National Committee and joint fundraising committees, represents the largest 24-hour sum reported by either side in the 2024 campaign. Harris’ campaign said it was the largest single-day total in U.S. history.

“The historic outpouring of support for Vice President Harris represents exactly the kind of grassroots energy and enthusiasm that wins elections,” Munoz said.

Hours earlier, Future Forward, the largest super PAC in Democratic politics, announced it had secured $150 million in commitments over the same period from donors who were “previously stalled, uncertain or uncommitted,” a senior adviser said.
