Happy New Year?
Author: BobR    Date: 01/01/2025 14:37:19

It's a brand new year. We'd like to think that means new possibilities and a fresh start. "Fresh", however, doesn't seem apt. It's like we're living the nightmare of 2017 all over again. On Friday, the Senate control falls to the Republicans. On Jan 20th, we'll have a Nazi-promoting Afrikaaner as close advisor to the incoming pResident, and a cabinet of assholes, imbeciles, and clowns.

On the bright side, the House, at least, will have their margins narrowed. The Republicans are fracturing, and the number of Orange Menace voters who are having buyer's regret is growing. Also - Matt Gaetz is no longer in government, because he resigned to be AG (as if), and with the House report being released, he'll never get back in.

Just in time for this, another bird flu variant is starting to rear it's ugly head, and we'll have a brain worm anti-vaxxer looking out for the nation's health.

Christ on crutch...

Anyway - enjoy your coffee, and we'll be seeing you in the re-education camps.

Good Morning.

It's not a new year at all; like you alluded to, it's just a retread of 2017. Being a driver and actually having had retreads on some of my professional vehicles - we'll be lucky to get 10,000 miles out of it.

TriSec is planning on retreating further into music. Despite planning on watching a movie last night, I did not. I went with Mozart's "Abduction from the Seraglio", a fine German Songspiel (Opera). This was written during the American Revolution 250 years ago, and there are some thoughts of liberty and freedom contained therein.

So - I'll be listening to more. I may clear my calendar and attempt Wagner's Ring. There's plenty of symphonies out there that WEREN'T WRITTEN BY BEETHOVEN. (Are you listening, Sirius XM?)

Although I have gone back to checking a handful of news sources, I primarily stick to local for traffic and weather, and my longtime friend BBC News for what is really going on.

If you cannot have a "Happy" New Year (Many of us won't), may it at least be quiet and healthy for thee.
