Oh, Damnit
Author: Mondobubba    Date: 11/21/2007 13:11:32

Well ummmm there was going to be a hilarious rant here this morning, but I'm wicked retahed! I had it all typed up and ready to go. I forgot on to save it and didn't plug the computer in. So, I woke to flat battery, Windows starting in the safe mode and the flaven!

One the other hand, the bagels, and organic, locally grown fruit is fresh & the fair trade coffee is perking away. BLOG! BLOG! BLOG! The day away. I will be traveling later today I will try to check in from the road.

MONDO, OUT!

Momma....Mooks.

Speaking as an av-dork, sometimes the Flight Data Recorder does not yield any useful clues as to why a plane went down. (or a relationship in this case.)

If you need an example, check out the series of mysterious B737 crashes in the early 90s due to "uncommanded rudder movement". There's only a theory still, lo these many years later.

UAL Flight 585

Skip this one if you're flying over the holidays, hmm?

This was in my head during my commute this morning for some reason:

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

Oh, I've caught SEVERAL in my place. I have the little traps, the single catcher ones.

But, this is the first time my cat has caught the mouse going for the trap red handed. And, brought it out from under the sink. Oy! I think the big trap might be better cause I can catch and release more than one at a time...

He's probably back in my house having peanut butter sandwiches with my cat.

Comment by TriSec on 11/21/2007 17:06:30
Don't forget the Kennedy assasination was as traumatic to our parent's generation as the Challenger or 9/11 is to us.

I share that with my mother...she can't talk about it without shedding a tear, and to this day I am unable to watch the entire launch sequence from 01/28/86.

9/11, on the other hand, is still so monstrous that it seems surreal when I see it.

Comment by livingonli on 11/21/2007 17:19:27
It is hard to picture New York without the WTC even after all these years.

I was a freshman in college when the Challenger explosion happened.. I remember hearing about it second hand because I was in a class at the time.

Comment by wickedpam on 11/21/2007 17:21:48
Tri - I can't watch footage from 9/11. It makes me flinch every time. All I can think about is what were those innocent people thinking when they realized what was happening and it makes me cry.

My mom wants to watch things like "Flight 93" or that one that was in the theatre. Michael Moore's movie was the last 9/11 thing I saw and I bawled my eyes out and it pissed me off.

As for Challenger - I can't take my eye's off that it's the one time Regan's words actually moved me. Who ever that writer was for that speech they wrote some beautiful words.

I just wanted to say I hope everyone has a safe and Happy Thanksgiving and stop for just a moment and think about others who are not safe, happy or able to choose who and where we spend however we choose to mark this time of the year. I hope everyone has something and someone to remind us of what we have and what weve lost and I hope everyone has some reason to feel Thankful and Blessed. Sorry for maybe not saying this perhaps as great as someone else may have been able to but I do truly mean these words. Be safe.

I've recently taken a liking to Sobieski Vodka, imported from Poland. Don't be put off by the plastic bottle or the lower price; it's good stuff. It probably just hasn't been "discovered" yet.

3. Kelly Anne Conway-for arguing that not allowing the firing of people for not speaking English will lead to terrorist attacks. What a racist pile of shit.

2. John Gibson-For saying the Dems are calling for more failure by trying to get out of Iraq which is a logical fallacy.

1. T. Bone Pickens- for welching on his $1 million dollar wager to prove the swiftboaters are liars by saying John Kerry now has to release his personal diary and all his records on Vietnam.
