We've less than two weeks before the polls close. This is the part where campaigns make their closing arguments to the people of this nation. One side is name-calling and using vulgarities I have never seen uttered by a Presidential candidate. The other is making the point very clear, it's democracy over a wannabe fascist dictator. Last night Harris held a town hall on CNN. It was supposed to be a debate but the other candidate dropped out. after the town hall, the typical analysis
happened on the same channel. "A town hall analysis breaking down the policies Kamala Harris was asked about Wednesday night abruptly flipped into a discussion about the inconsistencies in how the vice president and Donald Trump are being treated, with one CNN panelist declaring: “They’re not taking the same exam.”
“He gets to be lawless, she has to be flawless. That’s what's unfair. That's what's unfair tonight,” said former Obama White House official Van Jones. “They're not taking the same exam. Look, she has policies, she may not articulate them perfectly every time…but she’s fighting for actual ideas that will help real people and he’s talking about people’s penises, and so they are not taking the same exam and that’s pissing people off – it’s pissing me off.” (snip)
"I want to thank some of the folks on CNN for calling out the massive double standard of how Harris needs to be flawless as Trump is lawless. Like he didn't even show up for your townhall or your debate," Neera Tanden, a Democratic political consultant and former government official posted on social media.
"YES it’s a double std," former Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-VA) wrote on X. "Thank you @jaketapper for noticing that Dictator on Day One Revenge Tour Trump gets a pass on everything and his supporters say he doesn’t mean what HE says he means. Not just graded on a curve. He flunks every day and gets a pass."
That's the crux of it, isn't it? Harris showed up, he didn't. That's a helllova closing article.
The AP reports that Harris plans on amplifying her
closing argument at the Ellipse on Tuesday, one week before the polls close for good. That's the place where he sparked the violence on January 6.
ASTON, Pa. (AP) — Vice President Kamala Harris plans to lay out her campaign’s closing argument by returning to the site near the White House where Donald Trump helped incite a mob that attacked the U.S. Capitol in January 2021 — hoping it will crystalize for voters the fight between defending democracy and sowing political chaos.
Her campaign says Harris will give a speech at the Ellipse on Tuesday — one week before Election Day — and will urge the nation to “turn the page” toward a new era and away from Trump.(snip)
Word of the speech came from a senior Harris campaign official who insisted on anonymity to discuss an address that is still in development. The Harris campaign is betting that her speaking at the Ellipse can provide an opportunity for the vice president to stress that the country no longer wants to be defined by a political combativeness that Trump seems to relish.
The choice is simple, we're voting for Freedom or Fascism.
