No AAV today. Instead, we’re short and to the point.
Just shy of 80 years ago (December) my great-uncle Mikey was in Europe. Unbeknownst to the American Expeditionary Force, Hitler was planning one last-ditch effort to win the war.
It became the Battle of the Bulge, and my elder relative was right in the middle of it. He survived the battle, and the war, and like many came home after V-E day to start a family and create that “baby boom” generation.
He became the favourite uncle of my late mother. So much so, that my younger brother was named “Michael” after him.
To repeat; Uncle Mikey, my brother’s namesake, was in Europe and fought actual Nazis.
Apparently so my brother could vote for them today.
By doing so, he insults our mother, tarnishes the memory of my great-uncle, and contributes to the coming downfall of America.
Yes, this is a deal-breaker.
We remain correct and cordial for the sake of our father, but his time on this earth grows shorter by the second, and I imagine that when the time comes, my brother and I will remain civil for the duration.
But then I will never speak to him again.
Fascism anywhere must be defeated by any means necessary. If there are family casualties along the way, so be it.
