No, No, NO! BAD Trisec, BAD!!

I would never do that to all of you. If you do play along, I hope you're all still alive. I am as of this writing, but then again I tend not to listen to the kinds of music where one would be whammed.

I have also thus far avoided the Aural Assasination perpetrated upon an unwitting world by a certain Beatle, but I digress.

Or do I?

Not today - we all have our favourites, but what Christmas music do you absolutely LOATHE and would rather jam pencils into your ears?

Let's start with a childhood anti-favorite of mine...that damn Little Drummer Boy. I never liked that one, and Brother TriSec and I had a version where the refrain went "Tummy-Yum-Yum". (You will excuse that - we were kids at the time.)

But is it your favorite? Of course, this is the only version that matters.

A few songs blur the line between "Christmas" and "Not Christmas". I have railed against this one for as long as I can remember. My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ; "My Favorite Things" is NOT a Christmas song. Can we stop it already?

But - here's another good one, again the only version that matters.

Now it's time to veer into the silly. There's a number of novelty songs that come back every year. I noted this on Bluesky a few days ago. You just KNOW that somewhere out there is a bitter and angry Baby Boomer that never DID get a hula-hoop...so the rest of us have to hear this irritant each and every year.

I actually did some research on this one. Interestingly, in the early days of tape recording, an actual musician was experimenting with recording at different speeds and accidentally created the signature sound of Alvin, Simon, and Theodore. Naturally, an entire novelty album ensued, featuring the aforementioned Christmas tune.

Music is many things to many people. For each and every tune that you and I personally loathe - it's someone else's favorite tune of all time ever.

But it wouldn't be Christmas without this gem now, would it?

HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!

{{{Christmas Eve, eve, eve, eve????}}}
