We re still less than 100 days into this nightmare, and the cracks are already beginning to show. From his blue collar supporters to his fellow politicians in DC, the blush is fading from the rose.

His polling numbers are not typical for a newly-elected president. With favorability ratings that range from 36% to 48%, they are all lower than the unfavourability ratings. His cabinet does even worse, and specific questions (related to Musk's power, tariffs, etc.) are all in the toilet.

A reddit poll of users let's people say what they really mean:
"Due process was one of the most important demands of the Founding Fathers of America. The loss is a total and complete abrogation of the Constitution."

[...]

"The President is directly saying he intends to send US citizens to concentration camps while also saying he can do this without any due process and while ignoring the Supreme Court's instructions to stop and return an innocent man."

[...]

"We are just sitting here with our thumbs up and our asses wondering what shitty thing Trump is going to do next."

[...]

"You’d hope Congress would wake up and take a stand, but they have no spine or anything to worry about."

Still, the Balkaniztion of our country continues to grow, as the hard-core on the right continue to move farther right:
As President Donald Trump nears the 100-day mark of his second term, recent polling from NBC News shows how he has consolidated the Republican Party not just around himself, but also around his broader “Make America Great Again” movement.

Thirty-six percent of registered voters identified themselves as MAGA supporters in the March NBC News poll. It’s a significant increase from past NBC News polling — up from 23% of respondents in a merged sample of all of NBC News’ polling across 2023 and 27% of respondents in a merged sample of NBC News’ 2024 polling.

The overall share is powered by the 71% of Republicans who now call themselves MAGA supporters.

That is a bit horrifying. You'd think his destruction of the economy (which is hardest-felt among the poor), his dismantling of basic human rights, and shredding the Constitution would ignite a firestorm of outrage, but instead they turn around and embrace it as if it's their patriotic duty.

It feels like we're nearing a breaking point; I hope it doesn't end in a civil war.

Day 86, 1374 to go
