Former President George W. Bush visited Northwest Arkansas Thursday. According to Walmart reps, he's in town to receive the Patriot Award from the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Foundation. It's the Society's highest award.

More than a dozen Medal of Honor recipients were on hand sharing their stories of service and sacrifice at the Home Office.

The award is the highest one given for valor in action.

Bruce Crandall is a recipient and was a Major in the Army as part of a helicopter battalion during Vietnam.

His company helped to deliver troops and rescue dozens in the battle area under heavy fire from the enemy.

Bruce Crandall, Medal of Honor Recipient said, "It was the first real experience with helicopters in a combat role and we proved that it would work. We didn't know how well we would last until we did that day.

Crandal and several other recipients are part of the Medal of Honor Society.

The group goes to schools to promote a better understanding to students what courage and sacrifice truly means.
