I know most everyone here has a twitter account, not sure how often you use it. I know its where I do my best fangirling, sorry (not sorry

). Anyway, yesterday the Oscar nominations came out and twitter had something to say about it via the hashtag
#OscarsSoWhite . It was a good day to be a white and male actor in Hollywood this week.

All White Oscar Nominations Lead to Internet Outrage

No diversity here. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences received the wrath of the Internet on Thursday, Jan. 15, after announcing its nominees for the 2015 Oscars. All 20 nominees in acting categories are white — which makes the pool one of only a few instances of complete lack of diversity in nearly 20 years.

20 years! I hope that this is just a blip on the radar after we'd come so far in hearing stories from so many amazing places and people.

Here's to hoping that next year will be a banner year for diversity!

As a bit of a fan of critically acclaimed cinema, I would rather see nominations and/or awards go to those actors and films that are by and far the best. Now because there's only so much room in a given category there's gonna be snubs, especially in a year when there's so many good films and performances.

I haven't seen a year with this much quality cinema since 2003, so this is one of those years.

That said, Bradley Cooper should not have been nominated for Best Actor and David Oyelowo should have been, simply because his performance in Selma was better than Cooper's performance in American Sniper.
