Magic won the day.

Halloween came back -- with a vengeance -- yesterday. The kids started coming around 6 o'clock and didn't stop until 8 pm. Masked up both us and the parties involved, the candy was passed out.

It felt good to see the kids dressed up in all the costumes. Half of them I didn't recognize, meaning I am a 54-year-old woman with no children or grandchildren. I loved the look on some of the kids when I asked what they were dressed as -- it was a look I know I gave my parents when they didn't know a pop star like Boy George or Cyndi Lauper.

You know the "Dud, mom!" look. Still, Halloween came back this year. Our new normal is becoming, well, normal. Masks are gonna be here for a while and I am ok with that.

Over the weekend, Tri wrote of his long journey navigating this awful pandemic. He isn't alone, I know we all have gone through this journey in our own way. In March of last year, just a week after the country shut down, I lost a friend to cancer. I was already having severe panic from what was happening (it rather not happening from the previous maladministration) and here death combined with knowing that so many of our plans would be cancelled combined with not being able to travel to see family my brain started going sideways. I sought help, and it made a world of difference, to this day I am grateful for the support I had from Bob as well as friends.

Some of those friends were 'just' neighbors, friends, but neighbor friends. Since March of 2020 they have become friends of the ingrained nature, the ones you can bear yourself to. You know that's something is more difficult to do as you get older. Bob and I were fortunate, and I never take for granted how much we were.

That's why yesterday was so special to me. Halloween came back. We got to see our community becoming whole again. We've got a ways to go, but it is happening. Magic, born out of science and reason, won the day and the spirits were willed to make it so.

&
Raine

Morning.

So we didn't get any kids Granted we didn't turn on the front light but had candy just in case some of the close by neighbor kids rang the bell. Decided not to even decorated this year once it became obvious only 4 houses were doing anything. I mean what's the point if kids look up the street and see nothing but dark houses. So that's been a downer.

Then the whole VA race has been so heart breaking to watch. Just have a horrible gut feeling that I'm praying is wrong. I don't want us to lose everything we've gained.

Sorry to be such a downer. Its been hard to stay positive lately

Good morning, bloggers!!!!

I am staying in a second floor apartment, so we did not have any trick or treaters. However, during my evening walk, I saw many in the Sherman Oaks area of Los Angeles.

My sister said that she had 100 trick or treaters. Let us hope that we move to a new normal.

Don't be sorry, I totally understand.

I can't watch local TV -- those ads are just off the chart.

Its not even local tv, the ad are on like Travel Channel, Scifi, HGTV, etc - its even on youtube - its invaded everywhere. And no one in the MSM paid any attention to VA until this past month - I've had this horrible feeling since the summer. It just feels like a giant pile on to smother everyone who wants better.

After 2016, I simply can't trust polling anymore.

I pray Virginia goes the left way. I really do. The sh*t that is going on in Loudon county is some serious astroturf bull.

Oh I can't either, cause 538 now has tRumpkin up over Terry.

The Loudoun shit is totally astrotruf, but to be honest that county may have a lot of new money but its still mostly back woods yokles who wear tinhats while hunting so the guv'mint can't find time.

Just got into the office after a doc visit. We didn't have any kids who stopped at the house, tho I definitely saw them out & about.

Morning, comrades.

Just back from Walgreen's. Got my booster and a flu shot.

I can already feel myself turning into a T-1000.

We had some kids, but nowhere near as many as back in the heyday a few years back. After the murder some years ago, and the unprovoked attacks in our neighborhood two years back, nobody comes here anymore.

And in other news - ready for the coming revolution? We've known for years that the Union is always on the verge of collapse. The Trumpian Fascists are apparently counting on it now.

Almost a third of Republicans believe violence may be necessary to “save” the US, according to a new poll.

Researchers at the Public Religion Research Institute, a nonprofit, found that 30% of Republicans agreed with the statement “Because things have gotten so far off track, true American patriots may have to resort to violence in order to save our country”.

Among Americans who believe the 2020 election was “stolen” from Donald Trump, which it was not, 39% believe violence may be required.

The troubling statistics show the post-election rancour that led to the violent insurrection at the US Capitol on 6 January is still very much in place.

Republicans are most likely to believe “true American patriots may have to resort to violence”, PRRI found, with just 11% of Democrats and 17% of independents agreeing with the statement. Among all Americans, 18% agreed.

PRRI said 2,508 adults, living in all 50 states, were interviewed for the survey between 16 and 29 September.

“It is an alarming finding,” Robert Jones, chief executive and founder of PRRI, told Yahoo News. “I’ve been doing this a while, for decades, and it’s not the kind of finding that as a sociologist, a public opinion pollster, that you’re used to seeing.”

Jones said the responses illustrate the “significant and rapidly increasing polarisation in the United States”.

Another day in the broken record of my life.

You know what Tri? I agree with that idea.

Violence may be necessary to save the country.. from the Republican Party. How sad is that?
