Virginia, there is no Santa Claus
Author: Raine    Date: 11/04/2021 13:00:07

Yes Virginia there is no Santa Claus. Why?

Because the Virginia GOP scared voters enough so they killed him. They killed him with CRT and Toni Morrison. That said, the tactic didn't work in New Jersey. Phil Murphy was re-elected as the state's Governor.

Ads like this work:

Running against TFG at this point doesn't. I'm not gonna bang-up Terry McCauliffe. I am gonna point at the strategists. They screwed the pooch on this campaign. They let a liar get away with all sorts of crap. It's time for people to run against what the GOP represents. It's time to call them what they are: Anti-democratic and fascist. Authoritarian.

They represent nothing but fucking power. I'm from NY and I stand with New Jersey on this -- we can't let these assholes win anymore.

That's it, that's the blog.

Raine

Morning

Ok that hurt my heart, that essay is very near and dear to me, but you aren't wrong. Making most of his campaign about TFG instead of keeping it local was huge misstep. I felt there was something wrong this summer but couldn't put my finger on it then.

I didn't mean to hurt your heart. I just didn't have a more eloquent way of saying it. I may not live there anymore but I still feel kinship to Virginia in a big way. We spent nearly 10 years there, the loss hurt.

Good morning, bloggers!!!

I find it is better to run on ideas than against personalities --- even if that sometimes has to be done. (Character counts.)

My question is how much damage can this new governor do to Virginia? What are the party numbers in the state legislature?

Hard to say - The state Senate is still Dem controlled until 2023, the state House may be tied but there are still a couple of races that are close though it may go GQP. The Senate seems to be the speed bump for them.
