This is how the game is played.Monday night, Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy made an appearance on Sean Hannity's show. Here is a portion of it:
He said it with a serious tone, and looked right into the camera and said that. Never mind the pure projection for a minute, That channel's viewers won't get it. Less than 24 hours later, Politico reported that he had 'edged back from the brink of an impeachment inquiry' This is the sad sad part of this, McCarthy gets the press to treat his words as serious even though there is not a single piece of evidence supporting impeachment. This Politico report is evidence of that. There are many other publications out there simply parroting what the GOP claims they know and yet NO EVIDENCE.
I mean, even some Republicans are saying that this is performative theatre to give red meat to the most extreme members of the base, and when I consider Ken Buck to not be extreme, well, that is saying something. Having said that, Dana Bash is a parrot as well, there is no impeachment, no inquiry, as I said before, no evidence.
McCarthy isn't edging back, he said two different things to different audiences by design. What a disgrace and disservice to the country.

But during lengthy Tuesday question-and-answer sessions with reporters, McCarthy said his televised remarks were not meant as an announcement of any new steps. Instead, the California Republican clarified that the myriad of allegations he is seeing from Republicans’ investigations “could” eventually merit an impeachment inquiry.
“I wasn’t announcing it,” McCarthy said of his Fox News comments. “I simply said that the actions that I’m seeing by this administration — withholding the agencies from being able to work with us, that would rise to the level of an impeachment inquiry.”
“We … still have a number of investigations going forward now. The committees are working in good faith. They’re finding new information all the time,” McCarthy added.

This is textbook Republican propaganda. Make insinuations, and then it becomes "some say", then "people are saying", until finally "everyone is saying", as if repeating a lie makes it the truth.

Sadly, McCarthy is one of many politicians who says one thing to one audience and says something else to another audience. Fact's don't matter when all one seeks is power.
