What a bunch of F*ckery

The USA Women's National Soccer Team lost yesterday. Most of the country made clear how proud they are of the team. They are an inspiration to millions of women and girls in this country. Dr. Biden, Hillary Clinton, VP Harris, and President Biden, and many others cheered and praised them. Meanwhile...
T.J. Moe, a contributor for The Blaze, told followers, “I’m glad they lost.”

“The attitude of the USWNT reflect such poor values it’s sickening. They need an overhaul,” he went on. “The America-hating, entitled, ungrateful group, led by Megan Rapinoe, needs to go. Quite fitting she’s the one who blew their best chance to win.”

Others aimed their anger specifically at the team’s star forward, Rapinoe, who is an outspoken LGBTQ activist and strong advocate for transgender athletes. She’s also a two-time World Cup champion and former winner of the Golden Ball trophy, awarded to the best player of the tournament.

“The anti-American USA woke women’s soccer team has been eliminated and Megan Rapinoe is the cause of it,” wrote Catturd, a prominent right-wing troll. “I can’t stop laughing.”
and the TFG guy decided to jump into the pool of swill.

That's conservatism today in a nutshell. It's not about children or trans people in women's sports, it's about hating anything that brings joy to non White Nationists.

Good morning, bloggers!!!!

The GOP has returned to a position that any dissent or disagreement with the values they expose is treason to this country. It is not the first time. They called Franklin Delano Roosevelt a communist -- never mind the fact that the New Deal helped millions and may have saved democracy AND capitalism in the U.S. They did the same with civil rights, Social Security, Medicare, and any protests against the Vietnam War.

I am familiar with the U.S. Constitution and our other founding documents. The right to protest and to disagree are enshrined in those documents. Yet the GOP gladly keep these rights for themselves if their chosen candidate loses in a landslide.

On a personal note, I am heading into orientation today.

Found this on DU and thought it could be a blog post in and of itself.

When cruelty is valued more than the common good

Donald Trump throwing paper towel rolls at hurricane victims was a hideous display of his lack of empathy and decency. Perhaps his handlers told him if he played football, his team would most definitely be competing in the Super Bowl. Best throw ever. Most muscular arms. A toss with the most precision. Right on the mark. Beautiful pass, just beautiful. Disastrous situation, lives in peril, but not a hint of concern on Trump’s face. He would head home to top-notch shelter and have someone else press a button for room service.

What happens to a country when one of the two major political groups designs a deliberate shift away from the ideal of The Common Good to policies of increasing cruelty? Not just increasing cruelty, but cruelty as the basic principle. Razor wire. Forced pregnancies. Neck kneeling. Eliminating child labor laws. Reducing access to voting. Denying history. Policies without a shred of compassion.

For nearly eight decades I believed that our Constitution was like a cast iron pillar which supported our country. Rock solid. Immovable. Constant. Now many Republicans treat it with utter disregard. Same with our laws. Same with our traditions. Utter disregard. Win at all cost. Flat out lie on national television. Lie to voters. Lie to children. Lie to judges. Whatever it takes.

It’s like Republicans believe they are the entitled to the land, the money, the positions of authority. They alone, by way of their superior white heritage, have the right to lay claim to it all. When people of color, women, poor folks try to gain access to the group, stop them any way you can….even if it’s cruel. Yank children from their parents. Force a 10 year old to have her rapist’s baby. Throw a six year old back into the river. Get the ballot boxes out of black communities. Shame food stamp recipients.

We can march, protest, speak out, volunteer, vote….but we can’t grow accustomed to what has happened to our country. I’ve stopped laughing at Trump jokes. He’s not funny. He’s dead-serious dangerous, the most dangerous person to ever rise to power in this country. Imagine being in his Cult of Cruelty and wearing a MAGA hat with pride. You can’t get much lower.

Seriously, what the fuck?

You know - I'm an old Palm Beach hand. The Post Estate is a fine gilded-age mansion, despite who lives there now.

I would not be terribly sad if it burned to the ground, as long as Trump died horribly in fire during the process.

She needs to recuse.

He's gross.
