It's hard to believe, but it's already day 9 of the 2nd Anal Orange assault on democracy. As I posted a week ago, it's been a firehose of jaw-dropping outrage, purging government of anyone construed to be a threat, and a flurry of executive orders. We already know this is what he does. Most of his cabinet of horrors have been approved, with very little pushback from democrats. It's been exhausting, and I've barely been able to keep up.

So here's a tip: Pace Yourselves

If we try to maintain this level of outrage for the next 4 years, we'll be husks of ourselves at the other end. This doesn't mean just sit back and let him have his way. There are a LOT of us out there. It doesn't require all of us to be "on" all the time. We can take turns, and find some solace in our lives when others are carrying the weight. It's a marathon, not a sprint, so we can't blow it all in the first few months.

During this time, there will also be a lot of false "facts" floating around. It's reflexive to repost memes and BluSky posts without making sure they're true. Reposting bogus claims does more harm than good. Try to get the whole story and determine if the short quip accurately describes it.

Four years is a long time to spend angry. Find those other things in life that bring joy (or at least some serenity), and embrace those. You can't help others if you don't take care of yourself first.
