I'm going there.

Good Morning.

Well, last night the most important thing in New England history since the Tea Party occurred.

Ms. Taylor Swift performed the first of several shows at a local football stadium.

No, seriously. Beginning in January, when there were some ticketing problems via Ticketmaster, her mere presence in New England has been near-daily headline news.

This week has been utterly ridiculous. I literally don't know what else is going on in the world because of the saturation coverage. I hade to check news sources from New York City, London, and the West Coast to get any kind of updates.

Above the fold on WCVB today is this gem, though.

Family pays $21,000 for 4 last-minute tickets to Taylor Swift concert at Gillette Stadium

Umm, what? I paid less for both my car and my motorcycle. Do the math - that's $5,250 Each. I went to Florida three times last year for less than that. That really shouldn't be news; that was YOUR choice. Although I really can't complain about that, because I've done the same for a show I wanted to see. But the magnitude of that was far different in 1985. (I paid about double the face value, but it was still less than $150.)

Now the weather is even in the act - being an outdoor venue, we're expecting rain today for the second night. That's actually important for concert-goers to know, but of course the weather is being presented in terms of concert impact to the exclusion of all else.

But here we go. This is what got me going yesterday. It was a triple-witching hour in this city. We had Taylor Swift. We had the Celtics Playoff game. (They suck, BTW.) and almost in passing, it was mentioned in passing that Janet Jackson was also at another big outdoor venue in Boston, so traffic was going to be bad all day.

White Female Musician, saturation coverage, check.

Professional athletes, saturation coverage, check.

Black Female Musician, NOTHING, check.
